Katie Svihlik Burpo is the owner and director of GoldStar Learning Options, Inc, a certified SLPA and Behavior Interventionist. She grew up with a sibling with developmental differences and recognized the many challenges families face every day. Katie has dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of those impacted by developmental differences. She has been working with individuals privately as well as in schools and interdisciplinary centers since 2001. Her training and supervision includes: Applied Behavior Analysis, Floortime, American Sign Language, augmentative therapy, verbal behavior, and interdisciplinary intervention. She believes that with the right supports every individual can learn and grow at any stage of life. Katie is dedicated to ensuring ongoing progress in each individual so that they may lead a purposeful, fulfilling life.
Director of Operations
Brandi Rende joined GoldStar Learning Options in 2013 as the Director of Operations and has played a large role in the development of the company. Brandi was called to work with this population due to a close bond with her cousin who had Down Syndrome, who has since passed away. She is passionate about working with individuals with developmental, intellectual and psychological differences. Brandi attended SDSU on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. She started in this field working in direct care in 2004 and has since worked as a group home supervisor for those with significant behaviors, provided in-patient and emergency psychiatric care at the Children’s Hospital, and was able to share her love of soccer by coaching a TOPS soccer team for children with disabilities. She has furthered her education through business administration and counseling courses, in addition to completing an emotional intelligence, self-development and leadership training with Choice Leadership University. Brandi is determined to show the world what amazing talents those who are differently-abled have to offer.
Associate Director of Operations
Rachael is originally from South Carolina, born and raised a beach girl who decided to become a mountain girl after graduating from College of Charleston. She absolutely loves the outdoors and is a die-hard Bronco fan. She has been with GoldStar since fall of 2012. Rachael is enthusiastic and passionate about helping our families attain the best quality and quantity of services to meet their individual needs. Rachael strives to support families by raising awareness of the ample funding options available for families in order to bridge the gap in services. She believes every child, adult, and family deserves to feel their voice is heard and she will do everything within her power to meet every family’s unique needs. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the table and is a great resource for individual clients, billing, and Medicaid questions.
Associate Director of Adult Services
Meghan Horihan has been the Manager of Adult Services since September 2017. With a special education teacher for a parent, Meghan was introduced to the neuro-diverse population at a young age, which lead her to work in a special needs classroom during high school and further propelled her into the field. Hailing from the Midwest, she graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee before relocating to Denver where Meghan discovered her desire to help people with intellectual disabilities find meaningful employment. Finding ways to make the community more accessible and to support all individuals in pursuing a purposeful life is what drives her. It is her dream to live in a community that is not only beautiful, but also inclusive and provides opportunities for all. In her downtime Meghan loves to watch the Green Bay Packers, hike, ski, and travel.
BEHAVIOR DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR
Robyn Ledebuhr is the Behavior Department Director and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She began her career in behavior analysis 13 years ago, climbing the ladder in a growing company in Hermosa Beach, California that focused on early intervention using Applied Behavior Analysis strategies. While there, Robyn returned to school and earned her Master of Education degree at Pepperdine University and then continued to take online classes in behavior analysis with Florida Institute of Technology. She passed her BCBA exam in February of 2012 before moving to Denver, CO in 2015. She started with GoldStar in 2016 and quickly took on the role of Behavior Department Director. As the Behavior Department Director, she facilitates the growth of the behavior program and supports GoldStar’s behavior consults with the creation and implementation of sound behavioral intervention. Additionally, Robyn has 3 beautiful children of her own and watching them grow and take on challenges has only reaffirmed the importance of providing quality support and guidance to not only individuals with developmental delays but also their families.
Associate Director of Program Operations
Monica grew up in the small town of Larned, Kansas. She received her B.S. degree in Communication Disorders: Speech Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and has a M.A. degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Monica began working for GoldStar in May of 2015 to fulfill her passion of working with individuals with disabilities. She looks forward to seeing that sparkle in their eyes when they succeed. This population continually teaches her how to find the positive in all aspects of life. She takes great pride in all that they do and looks forward to each day she has the opportunity to work alongside GoldStar families! Monica resides in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband and 2 children. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, skiing, and building memories to last a lifetime.
Manager of Adult Operations
Heather has been with GoldStar since June 2015. She has always been drawn to helping others, which drives her to push GoldStar to be the best team it can be. She enjoys taking part in every learning opportunity presented to her in order to better serve each family. Heather has worked extensively with the individuals in GoldStar’s adult social club, Living With Purpose, and now serves as the Adult Operations Supervisor. Heather loves what she does and looks forward to helping others lead purposeful lives.
LeAnn began working for GoldStar’s Summer Adventure Program in 2015 and fell in love. Shortly after, she took on her current role as Office Administrator. Before joining the GLO team, she was employed by Brighton School District in the special education department. She also volunteered with the Denver VA as a mentor and advocate for ALS Caregivers and those newly diagnosed ALS. LeAnn is originally from Nebraska and enjoys camping, fishing, and travel, as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
